Will Your Future Self Thank You?

When you think about retirement, what comes to mind?  Is uncertainty in the mix at all?

Will you be financially ready to live the life you actually want? Not just cover expenses, but live well, on your own terms. Retirement looks different for everyone, and that is exactly why your financial plan should be personal.

This is the next short article in a series on practical, relevant, financial planning. The others can be found on our website here: Want to Know? Click here

A 2026 Fidelity Investments study found that retirement confidence was more than twice as high among people who had a retirement plan (83%) than among those who did not (38%). Charles Schwab also shows that people who actively engage with retirement planning and seek financial advice tend to be more confident about reaching their retirement goals. Locally Sanlam and 10X research show having a plan can make a significant difference to both confidence and long-term outcomes.

Retirement planning generally encourages more investing. Retirement Annuities are a practical starting point. They offer tax benefits on contributions and while invested, and keep your savings preserved for when you need them most. You do not have to save massive amounts immediately; you just have to start and stay consistent.

The steps are simple:

  • Get clear on your retirement vision
  • Know where you stand today
  • Start or increase your contributions – There is a cost either way: now or in retirement.
  • Review annually as life evolves

Final Thought
Retirement is not the end of the road, it’s the beginning of a new chapter.

The question is: Will you be financially ready when work becomes optional?

The decisions you make today determine the freedom you’ll enjoy tomorrow. If you want to be part of the 83% but are unsure where to begin, we are happy to help you build a plan that fits your life.
